The Future

In this version of the future, Peter explodes and destroys New York City. Countless lives were lost yet Peter remained undamaged. The scar on his face is one he refused to heal, as a reminder of what happened that day. Peter left New York soon afterward.
Teaming up with Hiro Nakamura, Peter tried to fight back against the government as they rounded up "specials". During one of these raids he rescued Niki Sanders and helped return her to Las Vegas. Seeing the same kind of damaged soul in her, Peter stayed with her and eventually formed a relationship.
Peter became a hardened shell of his former self. He was forced to close off his empathy so the weight of all those lives wouldn't kill him. As a result he's more cold and ruthless. He hasn't completely let go of the past, though, and when given the chance to change things he's eager to step in.

Exposed
In this future Nathan exposed "specials" during a press conference. The world went wild, first delighted by this new discovery and then envious as they searched for a way to become special themselves. The Company already had a formula in the works to help anyone gain abilities. Somehow this was released to the population and anyone with money (or the right illegal connections) could get it.
Peter's dreams and paintings showed him that the world would be destroyed because of this. He did what he could to stop it, but just got himself labeled as a terrorist. He was hunted down by his own niece. Feeling desperate, Peter decided the only thing he could do was go back in time and stop Nathan from exposing everyone.
He's become much more cynical and jaded in this future. He has no real attachments except for Gabriel and is willing to do whatever it takes to make things right again.
